Petroleum Ministry forms group to monitor major projects
ISLAMABAD: The Petroleum Ministry has decided to form a separate group to monitor all major oil and gas projects, a source told Daily Times. GA Sabri has been made the special secretary of the group. Sources in the ministry said Sabri would look after five major projects – under consideration in the hydrocarbon sector. The projects include the Pak-Iran gas pipeline, the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India gas pipeline and the establishment of the Khalifa Refinery in Hub, Balochistan.
Naeem Sharafat has been made Inter-State Gas Systems managing director. The ministry has also decided that the technical wing of the ministry will report to Petroleum Secretary Saleem Mahmood. A source said the Oil and Gas Development Company Limited managing director is likely to be transferred and a new joint secretary will also be posted in the ministry next week. The Pakistan State Oil chairman will also be changed soon. sajid chaudhry
